Since the beginning of the
semester, our group majorly focused on explaining all the ISIS attacks that
have taken place till date. The first blog post covered more general and basic
information of how ISIS emerged and how it developed anti-French sentiments
that led to numerous attacks in France. We also explained why it may be worthy
of our attention and how it affects us as individuals, since it is one of the
rapidly increasing terrorist groups spreading fear and violence. For our second
blog post, we tried narrowing down our information to specific events and their
history. We talked about the French Imperialism in the Middle East, Current
strained relations, and the connections that are causing all the ISIS attacks
and giving strong motives to spread fear. Moreover, for our third post, we
discussed and wrote more about the Military repercussion of terror attacks,
Anti-Muslim legislation, French Muslims Civilians, and the Immigration tactics.
We discussed about the last blog post more in detail since it has been
effecting a huge population of Muslims living there and making their lives even
more difficult because of the rising islamophobia.
Our strategy to write the blog
posts was to split up the research evenly and focus on a specific detail so
that by the time we share the information as a group we would be experts about
the facts and know everything about it. We usually shared all our information
as a group and then wrote a paragraph explaining what we found out and then
worked as a group to put it all up together as one paper. I personally thought
that this was a great way to work together as a group because we were able to
learn so much more information when we talked to each other rather than just
doing everything by ourselves.
For me personally, I learned a
lot from this assignment. Although it was hard at times to work as a group
since we all have different schedules and it was hard to find a time we were
all available, still, through this group work our knowledge on this specific
topic has increased tremendously. We know so much about everything that's going
on what causing it, which helps us understand everything better and see how it’s
affecting us as individuals and as a community. For me, the most interesting
part was to study the increasing fear of islamophobia and how it has been
affecting the innocent Muslims and restricting them to live a normal life
compared to non-Muslim people. I have learned a lot from this blog post and it
encourages me to learn more and get involved with this topic even more than I
was before.
